Qns on Upgrading of Weapon/Armour

Hi,
just a quick qns. Can GM upgrade my existing armour from +5 to +9? Reason for asking is bcos I only have enough $ to purchase a +5 armour at the moment. Hopefully 1 week later can make up the balance.
